A leading manufacturer of bicycle components sought a full, turn-key global manufacturing partner. That partner had to be able to build, test, package and ship their retail consumer electronic product to their retail distribution customers. Solution set – including drop-shipping finished goods internationally – made us the ideal partner.Creating the product was no easy feat. In addition to top and bottom surface mount process (SMT), this circuit board required selective conformal, de-paneling, soldering, wire bonding, and pull force test bonding of the aluminum wire components.
Conformal coating had to be cured with a UV process. Additional fine-brushed epoxy masking was then applied to cover the entire IC and all the wiring. Further curing in an industrial oven was followed by an ultrasonic welding and final assembly process.
Once the electronics were fully tested, they were installed into the housing by pressing the pins into the bracket. Wires were connected into the housing and the LCD display was attached via the flex cable to the PCB.
The final housing assembly was completed with a watertight ultrasonic welding process that was tested once again by fully submersing the entire assembled product in water and checking for bubbles or leaking. The product was then dried and packaged for final shipment to the retail distribution customers.
