John graduated from the University of Toronto in 1968 with a degree in Industrial Engineering and spent the following two years volunteering with CUSO in East Africa.

On his return to Canada, John began a four-decades-long career in several manufacturing enterprises, both on the production and commercial sides, in industries as varied as plastics molding (Windsor Plastics and Bonar Plastics), automotive parts (TRW and Windsor Plastics), wire and cable (Phillips Cables) and electronics for the cable televison industry (Lindsay Specialty Products). John has held the position of president in several companies, most recently with Bonar Plastics (now Promens) as president of the North American Division of Low & Bonar PLC from 2001 to 2006.

Joining Etratech in July 2006 as Chief Operating Officer, John is responsible for the company's operations, sales and engineering at the Burlington-based business.
